Our Views on Marriage

Sometimes it feels like a sickness, and the cure is well-known and prepared by the Lord for all who suffer.

1. First of all we help believers to meet each other. First, in the cyberspace, and then possibly in the physical world.
2. We are also eager to talk with you, to discuss your concerns, and to help you overcome cultural and language barriers.

Why We Decided to Create This Website?

One evening, about 3 or 4 years ago, I was reading a Russian newspaper (published in Baltimore, as I recall). There was this story about a group of Russian students in Moscow who created a bogus singles/marriage website.

Two guys and a gal created a website by assembling thousands of pictures and fake profiles from all over the Internet. They had done an excellent job advertising and promoting their website, and were getting thousands and thousands of hits.

Great many Americans and West Europeans had registered and purchased their membership. Then many began to send emails and letters. These two guys and a gal were staying VERY busy trying to respond to every email in a timely and erotic fashion. In their responses they would routinely asked for tangible assistance either directly or indirectly by complaining about hardships of life in Russia. Then they expanded their team by hiring a couple of girls that can type fast (in chat rooms), and some others that have a pleasant voice and a pretty accent (to chat on the phone). This was going on for little over a year.

One of the guys that joined their website really, really fell in love with a BEAUTIFUL Russian girl from this bogus website. If he only knew that the girl existed in the sick imagination of those Russian studs only! He even called a number of times, and talked with a nice, sexy voice. After a couple of months he really, really wanted to meet his beloved, and he decided to invite her to America! The only problem was, "the girl" told him, she had a bad medical condition that required an expensive treatment... Not a problem, the guy said, and did a couple of community bar-b-qs southern style, sold some of his stuff, and eventually raised $50,000.00 for her medical treatment! He had sent the money to the girl, and also decided to write a petition to the President of Russia asking not to tax his gift, since it was for such a good cause as saving life of his future wife....

Interesting enough, this petition was reported to the President himself!... The President was moved by the story, of course, and also asked his legal aid (or someone in his cabinet) to look into this situation and see if the government could assist this poor, (truly!) sick girl.

Soon after, these 3 Russian studs were jailed. The newspaper does not mention if any part of the $50,000.00 was returned to the giver.

When I finished reading this article, I shared the story with my wife, and we talked a little bit about it. Our single friends came to mind.
My wife kind of exlaimed, "Why don't they get married?!..."
I responded, "But do you know how difficult it is to meet a decent lady that is also appealing to you as your future wife? I mean, where would you go to meet someone?"
My wife, "Go to church or meet someone at work! It's EEEAAasy!"
Me, "Yeah, sure! The church folks are surely nice people, but what if there is no one among them that you'd want to marry?! And at work, most of places simply discourage any kind of personal relations, first; and again there's usually no body you'd want to marry, second; and it's kind of tricky not to send wrong signals to someone who may turn out to be a totally wrong person!"

So, after about an hour of discussions we agreed that there are great many Christian singles who really have trouble meeting someone they'd want to marry. Simply because there are very few places and opportunities to meet them.

And then my wife asked me, "Why don't we create a website for Russian-speaking Christian singles first, and for the rest of the Christian world, second?!"
"Uh!?", now it my turn to ask questions, "and what would we do differently that would justify our efforts?"
"Well... well..., we'd keep more conservative and we'd require church references!", responded my wife.

Well, to make this story short, after some very lengthy discussions we sorted out what we would and what we would not do, and how. We ended up not requiring much, but rather encouraging people to provide Christian references and indicating where do they stand as far as their religious zeal goes.

A couple months later we had a small data center with clustered Unix servers, reliable tape backup libraries, and our www Russian Christian Singles . com . Yes, we do know how imperfect it is. We just never meant it to be a fully commercial service, and never expected it to provide for our 4 children and numerous relatives. Unlike many Christian Singles websites, even though we are welcoming CONSERVATIVE Chrsitians and Messianic believers from any country, we are trying to focus on serving Russian-speaking believers. My wife is homeschooling our 4 children, and handles most of the website issues. Thanks G-d, we are growing every day!
